We completed this epic scratch-built 929 wagon at the end of last year. It arrived as a bare shell and left as a serious street car, fully loaded with performance upgrades and refinements.
At the heart of the build was a JC 13B Stage 2 engine, paired with a BorgWarner turbo. A custom-built intercooler and radiator package kept temperatures under control, while the car made a fun 400HP on just 13psi of boost. Power was transferred through an R154 gearbox and twin-plate clutch to a fully rebuilt Hilux rear end with a True Track LSD and 4-link setup.
Ride and handling were perfected with our in-house custom coil-overs all round and a Wilwood brake setup, making it stop on a dime while riding beautifully. The custom-built fuel tank with twin pumps, using an EFI Hardware billet twin fuel pump hanger, fed a complete Teflon-braided fuel system designed for future ethanol fuels and more horsepower. All fluid lines were supplied by Motorsport Plumbing Supplies NZ.
Inside, we kept things clean and simple, with only the front seats upgraded. A Haltech IC7 display provided the driver with all the necessary information to enjoy the car fully.
This 929 wagon turned out amazing and is sure to impress at events this summer, driven hard and showing exactly what a properly built rotary street machine can do.
