This RX-2 arrived at our workshop as a bare rolling shell, stock diff and all! Over the following months, we transformed it into one serious custom build, blending old-school rotary spirit with modern performance and craftsmanship.
We started from the ground up with all-new running gear, including a Hilux rear end for strength and reliability. The tunnel was cut and raised to allow the car to sit as low as possible without compromise. Under the bonnet, we built a bridgeported 13B turbo engine paired with an FC gearbox and a heavy-duty clutch kit. A modest BorgWarner turbo and a full 3.5-inch exhaust system, featuring our own custom stainless steel turbo manifold. This sorted out the hot side perfectly.
The engine bay was detailed and painted in-house, complemented with a range of polished components for that clean, refined finish. In the boot, we built a simple yet efficient fuel system using Motorsport Plumbing Supplies NZ braided lines and fittings throughout. A Link Monsoon X ECU, with full pressure and temperature sensor integration, keeps everything running precisely as it should.
On low boost, this setup produces a healthy 380HP, making it an incredibly fun event car. With a 4.8 diff ratio, getting traction becomes part of the thrill!
